
We are very glad to confirm the first expert confirmed to be present in FEST – Training Ground 2010, the Oscar nominated Christian Frei.
Christian Frei will be present on the program Filmmaking in the Middle of Nowhere on the 25th of June.
Christian Frei is a Swiss filmmaker. He is mostly known for his two films War Photographer (2001), with which he was nominated for an Academy Oscar, and The Giant Buddhas (2005). Both deal with topics and themes more or less linked to war and intolerance.
His most recent work Space Tourists will be present in Sundance 2010, where he has been nominated for the Grand Jury Prize.
Born in 1959, in Schönenwerd, Switzerland, Christian Frei studied visual media in the Department of Journalism and Communication at the University of Fribourg. He made his first documentary, Die Stellvertreterin (The Representative) in 1981. Since 1984 he has been working as an independent filmmaker. He also works regularly with the Swiss National German-speaking television, the Schweizer Fernsehen DRS.
