Ana lives in a small village on the Spanish plateau, and spends her summers selling underwear in her uncle’s shop. An unexpected encounter with two youths from a neighbouring village awakens in Ana hope of an escape from this monotony.
Daniel, who has just been released from prison, is trying to make a new life for himself. It is not easy – he must take care of his alcoholic mother and find a job. Maybe he can find some happiness in a new relationship with a medical rescuer he has just met?
An old sailor remembers its life and decisions. Stocked in a desert island, he has the all the time to think about what his done and abandon. All of this, is a few meters away and it’s getting closer and closer.

“If wasn’t born” takes a deep look into the film makers’ photographic album. It´s a journey though personal years during the last years of the GDR and Fall of the wall. The film asks about life´s possibilities and those of a young mother without a son.
Usain Bolt just made history breaking two sprint world records at the World Championships in less than a week. At the same time, Javier, a young disabled man, whose life is arranged according to a series of routines difficult to modify, dreams of becoming the next top sprinter.
Klompen Jan is among the last to travel around in his camper. As his generation of travelers decreases, the Puritans came to feel attracted to the trailers. They joined an association that wants to keep the gypsy style alive. These stories reveal the contrast between folklore and trailer travelers.
A ferry makes its way through the ice floating in the wintery Baltic Sea. Yet the ice has long since broken inside the ship thanks to the evening’s entertainment: with their presentation, the artists breathe a moment of magic into a world which already seems rather unreal.
